For posterity, I shot video of one of the first trains through the completed installation - TVLA, the most important westbound train on the schedule. It's a good fit! Turn your speakers on and have a look:
Like the prototype, the bell starts upon activation, and runs until the gates are closed (down). Then the bell shuts off. Some units trigger the bell again as the gates reopen, but others do not; I modeled the latter with bells only upon activation and closing.

DeleteThis looks really great! My only comment would be that the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices requires a 20-second minimum time for the railroad circuit to activate warning devices prior to arrival of a through train.
ReplyDeleteThanks Geof! Good observation. It was actually 15 seconds in 1994, and this setup is timed to match the pace of the operation which runs on a 3:1 ratio using a fast clock. So, what we see here is the gates activating over about 5 seconds, which is close to 15 'fast' seconds.
